03.16.12 - Jared Francis, program director with Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Alabama, says the agency is looking to provide female mentoring for young girls between the ages of 5 to 13. If you know a young girl who would benefit from a mentoring program, for more information,}^{click here}^.

^{02.20.12 - The Huntsville Housing Authority Board of Commissioners unanimously approved at its meeting today (Feb. 20, 2012) a resolution opposing Alabama House Bill 168 and Senate Bill 21, and any other applicable house or senate bills.

The proposed legislation would require the Huntsville Housing Authority, if interested in purchasing a property, to provide 30 days before entering into a negotiation with the owner, notice by first class mail to each residential and business address within 300 yards of the property.

The Huntsville Housing Authority is concerned the procedure would impede its ability to comply with federal fair housing laws and regulations, particularly the Fair Housing Act and obligations to Affirmatively Further Fair Housing}
