9.2.11 - How do you end poverty? You start trying. The Huntsville Housing Authority and newly created Village of Promise are sponsoring a series of events in September to launch a new initiative geared toward helping people help themselves into a better way of life. The events are designed to empower parents with knowledge about how to help children with their education. The events culminate with a screening of, ”Waiting for Superman,” a documentary film which analyzes the failures of public education. The film follows several students through the educational system, who hope to be selected in a lottery for acceptance into charter schools. For more information click here.

6.9.11 - As construction enters its final stages for Gateway Place, a new senior residential building next to Huntsville Hospital, the application process for residency is underway.
Former senior residents of the Councill Courts community of the Huntsville Housing Authority get the first right of refusal at the new site. They have until June 17th to respond to correspondence about their intentions to live at Gateway Place. For more information click here.
