HUD AWARDS HUNTSVILLE HOUSING AUTHORITY OVER $5M

HUNTSVILLE –
The U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) has awarded the Huntsville Housing Authority (HHA) $5,953,200 in funding under the Capital Fund Recovery Competition (CFRC). This funding is part of $1 billion in competitive Capital Fund grants included in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act going to more than 3,100 public housing authorities across the U.S. Distributed through a competitive process, this funding will be used by HHA in the construction of Gateway Place, the state-of-the-art senior facility at Gallatin Street and Lowe Avenue.

“These available funds are a perfect example of using the Recovery Act to help rebuild our local economy by creating more jobs for Huntsville as we improve living conditions for public housing residents, specifically our community’s seniors,” said Michael O. Lundy, Executive Director/CEO, Huntsville Housing Authority.
