Public Housing

Northwoods Addition

What is Public Housing?

Low-income public housing provides to eligible persons affordable, safe, decent, and sanitary housing. Public housing attempts to insure a social and economical mix of low-income residents in order to foster social stability and upward mobility. Eligibility requirements are determined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and the rent of eligible residents is based upon adjusted gross income.

When and where may I apply?

Public housing applications are taken Monday through Friday, excluding Tuesdays, from 8:00-11:00 a.m., and from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Applications are not accepted by mail or telephone and a personal interview is required. Interested persons may obtain an application Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Administrative Office located at 200 Washington Street (NE corner of Washington Street and Holmes Avenue).
